I'm sick and tired of Mr. Ellington and Mr. Menz using the services excuse. This is about as feeble as it gets but seems to be the foundation of their defense for their fiscal irresponsibility. They use it to totally ignore the Citizens Advisory Committee's report. I quote Mr. Ellington "Because Council has never heard from Amelia residents that they wished to reduce the services targeted by the committee," What a bunch of hogwash! They seem to think that if we make them go away we will loose all our services! Once again thats hogwash! Will we be without waste collection? NO! Will we be without Fire Department and EMS support? NO! Will we be without Law Enforcement? NO! Will we be without Snow Plowing? NO! Will we be without Public Services? NO! They seem to think that if we get rid of them our world will fall apart and we will be in debt for the rest of our lives. That couldn't be farther from the truth! If they were out to do something for Amelia and the folks who live and work here they would have just put the Rumpke expense on a levy, it would have passed, and I wouldn't be here doing this today! What they need to do now is STOP WITH THE FEEBLE EXCUSES such as our disappearing services, come clean and tell us what this is really all about, not that we already don't know, and give is the choice by putting the dissolution of Amelia on the ballot! __________________ |
