If you read these articles they will provide you with some history of how we got to where we are at today. You will also read quite a few responses to these articles. These responses are very interesting and I believe that the vast majority are in favor of dissolution. Take the time to learn more about the situation we find ourselves in and how we got here. Additionally you will see that Mr. Ellington and Mr. Menz have different stories to tell you and the media. Read the article "Amelia gets to vote on earnings tax - September 5th, 2008" to discover the great Runpke lie! In the threat-letter of August 11th, 2008 debt #1 Mr. Ellington and mr. Menz state that we will owe $200,000 for the next three years to Rumpke for waste collection. In an article in the Cincinnati Enquirer dated 9/5 I quote "The primary need for the earnings tax is to replace an expiring levy that covers waste collection, village officials said." First, if we owe $200,000 for the next three years I would not consider that an expiring levy. Second, if we had a levy to pay for it all along why not just put another levy on the ballot? Clearly they are lying to one of us, either the Enquirer or we citizens or maybe even both. But a lie it is! AND NOT ONLY THAT! If the primary need is for the Rumpke contract just HAVE ANOTHER LEVY! WE WOULD HAVE PASSED IT! WE DONT NEED AN INCOME TAX TO PAY FOR RUMPKE! THERE IS SOMETHING ELSE GOING ON HERE THAT THEY ARE NOT TELLING US!
