"The good news is that since that time, ODOT has removed from consideration the proposed Main Street improvements due to recent improved traffic statistics. Therefore, the underlying cause for consideration of an earnings tax has now been resolved. Village Council eventually implemented option three above. Therefore, the waste collection property tax has been eliminated (a reduction in Amelia property taxes) and beginning in October, 2009, residents and businesses will be directly billed for waste collection services at a very low negotiated rate of just over $10 per month (compared to Batavia’s negotiated rate of over $20 per month). Amelia Village Council has since voted to table the earnings tax proposal indefinitely! Conclusion: Amelia is no longer required to pay ODOT $3 million to $5 million for Main Street improvements and the waste collection issue has been resolved. Therefore, previous consideration by Village Council to impose an earnings tax has categorically been laid to rest. I have beaten the mandate to death. The difference between this and the 5 million is Amelia's share of the capital improvements project. ODOT has nothing to do with that! Just a huge lie! To say that the imposition of an income tax by the village has been categorically laid to rest is just another lie. Categorically means absolute or unqualified and if you for one tenth of one second believe that just because the Village Administration has voted to table the earnings tax proposal indefinitely does not mean they will not change their minds! They have flip-flopped before in a very short time and they are certainly capable of flip-flopping again especially when that $2,875,000 is still sitting out their in the capital improvements project as well as a total of $9,185,000 in total debt. Reality is that as long as there is a village there is categorically a threat of the income tax. If you want to make it go away you for good there is only one way. Don't listen to these liars! Vote yes on Issue 1 and you get rid of all of them at once! __________________ |
